SEATTLE, WA

Fall Out Boy played for a sold out Climate Pledge Arena on March 1st, continuing the second run of their worldwide tour, So Much For (2our) Dust. It was a night of back-to-back pop-punk excellence, with three opening acts leading the way for Fall Out Boy’s headline performance. The crowd of about 17,000 rose to the occasion, ready to sing their hearts out in cowboy hats, emo-glam makeup, and FOB-themed friendship bracelets.

Daisy Grenade

Daisy Grenade started off the night with an impeccable performance steeped in the electric energy you hope for in an opener. Dani Nigro and Keaton Whittaker lead the “power punk bubble grunge band”, and exuded raw talent as they ran across the stage and belted out harmonies. Their first two EPs were executive produced by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, which may explain why they made such an excellent pairing to the headliner.

Daisy Grenade included a couple special nods to Seattle in their set, including a cover of Nirvana’s “Polly”, and Whittaker’s Ray Allen #34 Sonics jersey. Daisy Grenade was backed by Elijah Scarpati on guitar, Adrian Koch on bass, and Pete Lazorcik on drums.

The Maine

The Maine brought the energy of a headliner to their opening set, as frontman John O’Callaghan looked out on the crowd with a thousand watt smile. His bandmates thrashed their long hair in front of the stark white backdrop, which read “YOU ARE WATCHING A BAND CALLED THE MAINE”.

The Maine includes lead guitarist Jared Monaco, bass guitarist Garrett Nickelsen, drummer Patrick Kirch, and rhythm guitarist Kennedy Brock.

Practically every Fall Out Boy song you’ve dreamed of screaming with 17,000 of your closest friends is included on the So Much for (2our) Dust set list. The anthem “Love From the Other Side” (So Much For Stardust, 2023) served as the explosive start to the show, and Patrick Stump’s iconic lead vocals came through as clear and strong as ever.

The second song, “The Phoenix” (Save Rock and Roll, 2013), doubled down on the theatrics as the band (including lead guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley) was surrounded with pulsing fire blasts. Pete Wentz leaned into the moment by wielding a flamethrower bass that shot plumes of fire from the neck.
